About the Client
Established in 1907, C&K has a proud history of delivering high quality early childhood education and care across Queensland for pre-prep aged children. As a not-for-profit organisation specialising in kindergarten, childcare, family day care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs, C&K’s history and focus on embracing children with special needs, religious and cultural diversity is what makes them so unique. As Queensland’s largest and longest serving provider of early childhood services, C&K encourages a supportive, friendly and caring community where children can learn through play and make friends.
With nearly 400 kindergarten, childcare, family day care, limited hours care and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services and programs across Queensland, C&K required a single integrated platform that would serve to unify and promote their services, while at the same time allow for individual branches to promote location-specific information. The website design needed to target families and to visually promote their brand. As for functionality, C&K required features such as an easy to use enquiry form, an interactive image gallery, a comprehensive events calendar, and for it to be user-friendly enabling staff with minimal web experience to manage site content.
iFactory website designers created a website that was clean, bright and colourful with straightforward navigation for end users. The CMS platform, Drupal, was used to build the site as it is a powerful tool for building complex sites and the most appropriate for community platform sites with multiple users. The site incorporated an interactive banner and image gallery in keeping with the bright design approach, and integrated features like YouTube, social media channels and Google Maps to engage their market across multiple platforms and enhance search ranking results. Google Translate was also integrated to provide access to people from non-English-speaking backgrounds. Finally, the website incorporated a staff portal/intranet for staff communication and management of content and files, which can be accessed on the C&K site.
