5 Scientifically Proven Ways to Get More Retweets

You may have heard of twitter, you may know what it is, you may even have an account – but do you know how to get your amusing tweets retweeted? Dan Zarrella has done his research and has broken down the 5 Scientifically Proven Ways to get More Retweets.

Links are key

The percentage of tweets that contain a link equate to less than a quarter (with 500 million tweets tweeted every day that seems like a waste) compared with ReTweets where over 50% contain links. Sharing is caring and the act of including links in your tweets adds to your ‘sharability’ or rankings on social media.

All you need to do is ask

There’s no harm in asking, but there is danger in not asking at all. Tweeters who asked for their post to be retweeted had 51% success with it, those who abbreviated the request found 39% success and those who had a request MIA had 12% luck with retweeting.

Nobody likes arrogance

For tweeters whose favourite subject is well, themselves, retweets including their self-promotion was less than non-retweets.

It’s all in the new

Whilst rehashing some items on the internet is great fun and let’s face it just plain educational there are some things that should be kept fresh. The best retweets, in order of popularity, are news, instructional, entertainment, opinion, products and small talk.

Twitter versus Facebook

What happens on twitter should stay on twitter. Tweets that mention Facebook witnessed a 50% retweet rate while posts that tagged twitter experienced a 300% retweet rate.
