Case Study: Supafil

About the Client
Knauf Insulation is a long-established, highly respected multinational company whose primary business units include drywall construction and gypsum plaster, insulation materials and injection moulding/moulded parts. Their premier brand, Supafil, is an unbonded, silicone treated, non-combustible glass mineral wool product which requires no mixing on site and is specifically designed for installation into existing double brick masonry cavities.
Client Objective
Knauf Insulation, along with their partner Onnetsu, required a Japanese language and Japanese-hosted website for their insulation brand, Supafil. The product was due to launch in Japan to coincide with an industry conference, with Knauf Insulation needing an existing web presence to introduce the product to market. The timeline was tight – one week, to be exact – with the website needing to be user-friendly, multilingual and adhere to Japanese design standards.
iFactory Solution
Ask any creative agency and they’ll tell you that a week is not a lot of time to strategise, wireframe, design, develop, test and launch a website, yet the iFactory creative team were up for the challenge. Developed in WordPress to allow for the easy updating of content across the site, the Supafil multilingual website is responsive, highly engaging and consistent with Japanese design aesthetic so as not to alienate the user. The attitude that a Japanese user has towards website design is that no space is to be wasted, so rather than an interactive tool, the web is a brochure that must fill the screen. It featured information sheets, news, distributor information and videos. As the client desired to have a multilingual website, we facilitated an accurate translation, which resulted in the site also be edited in both languages.
