Call-to-Action button new to Facebook

If you’ve been paying close attention you may have noticed a new feature that’s popped up recently on Facebook. Fresh to 2015 for the powerhouse social media platform is the worldwide introduction of call-to-action buttons for business pages.

Digital marketing gurus are rejoicing as this new feature helps drive traffic to your website at no cost. Facebook users can now easily take actions that are important to your business.

For the time being there are a seven call-to-action (CTA) buttons from which to choose, including:

  • Book Now
  • Contact Us
  • Use App
  • Play Game
  • Show Now
  • Watch Video

For charitable organisations, a donation feature isn’t available yet, but hopefully a “Donate Now” CTA is on the cards soon.

How to add a Call-to-Action

To add a call-to-action button to your Facebook page:

  1. Go to your Page’s cover photo and click “Create Call-to-Action”
  2. Choose a Call-to-Action and the destination URL. Facebook will automatically choose the best destination based on your web address, but you can edit these.
  3. Click “Create”.

Other tips for using Facebook CTAs

Your CTA is on prime real estate at the top of your business page, to the left of the Like button. However, at this point you want to check how your cover photo looks in the available space. Users may need a little help finding this new feature, so use colour and design to help draw the eye. However, designers be aware that Facebook’s mobile app doesn’t yet show the CTA button.
