Your three-step guide to setting up an Instagram Business Profile
Now, with the roll-out of Instagram Business Profiles – accounts that are officially recognised as a business will receive special tools to help measure engagement and promote business profile posts.
Instagram has always lagged behind Facebook in terms of being used widely by businesses. Now, with the roll-out of Instagram Business Profiles – accounts that are officially recognised as a business will receive special tools to help measure engagement and promote business profile posts – in the same way Facebook does. Our three-step guide shows you how to set up an Instagram Business Profile and provides a couple of tips about getting the most out of your posts.
Step 1 – Make sure you have the latest version of Instagram
For you to have an Instagram Business profile, you’ll need to have the latest version of Instagram. Once you’ve got that, here’s a foolproof guide to setting up your account.
- Tap your profile image at the bottom right of your screen
- Tap the settings wheel. If you can see ‘Switch to Business Profile’ you’ve got access to Instagram Business Profiles.
Step 2 – Setting up your profile
Now we’re getting down to the nuts and bolts.
Tap on the Switch to Business Profile option. The View Features link will introduce you to all the features Instagram Business Profiles includes as well as how to:
- Use your business profile to integrate with your Facebook page
- Add contact details
- View your Instagram Business Profile performance analytics
- Create Instagram campaigns using promotional posts
To continue, click the blue button and connect to your Facebook business page. Once you have entered your business contact information, Instagram automatically pulls details from your Facebook business page. You have the choice of using this information or removing it. You may not want all the details available on your Instagram Business Profile – or you might want more information.
Once you’ve edited/approved these details, you’ll be taken back to your Instagram profile – which is now an Instagram Business Profile.
Step 3 – You’re ready to go. Now what will you post?
Like all social media channels, be clear about what you’re trying to achieve. Are you on Instagram to build brand awareness? Are you aiming to drive to traffic to your website or landing page? How is Instagram going to tie-in with your brand’s digital marketing strategy? To have an effective Instagram Business Profile, your images need to align with your brand values and/or your campaign.
